Facebook has the function of blocking
accounts that violate the norms of the community by anonymous statements. In
fact, this opportunity is used by trolls and fake accounts of dictatorial
regimes, fascist and extremist organizations. As a result, fighters for rights
and freedoms, who are already limited in their countries in their rights and
freedoms, are also blocked on Facebook.
Currently, the world lives in an open
space, where everywhere there is a struggle for openness, justice, where
criticism is possible, regardless of persons and positions. Criticism is tough,
impartial. But how else can you reveal the essence of events?
Dictatorial regimes are not interested
in seeing the world know about their negative activities. Fascist, extremist
organizations also do not like to hear the truth about their anti-human
actions. There are nations that behave disproportionately to international
rights, aggressively, cruelly towards others. And at the same time they are
trying to prove to everyone that they have the moral right to do so, to be
cruel antihuman to others. It is the trolls and fake accounts from these
groups, using the democratic nature of social networks, in every way harm
everyone in the information space. It is they who everywhere and constantly
seek out all sorts of opportunities to block their opponents. They have long
understood that Facebook allows you to anonymously block accounts. Moreover,
they create bots that search on Facebook for having unwanted content. Therefore,
on false pretexts, they block their opponents.
During the times of communist repression
in the USSR, millions of innocent people were arrested and killed unreasonably
because of anonymous letters. Anonymous letters are equivalent to a sudden
mean-spirited stab in the back. The whole world has long since abandoned the
practice of anonymous denunciations because it wants to know the truth about
what is happening and make decisions based on consultations and discussions.
To be objective and fair, Facebook and
other social networks should abandon the practice of anonymous blocking, and
create open dispute resolution sites, where opposing parties can openly enter
into polemics and discuss critical points, giving evidence and arguments.
Therefore, I urge Facebook to abandon
the vicious practice of anonymous blocking.
